What's the difference between DP and HDMI?

What's the difference between Displayport Cable and HDMI CABLE?

HDMI and DP are both digital systems designed to replace older analog systems like VGA. They both serve the same purpose - to transmit high-definition digital audio and video from a source device to a display - but that doesn't mean they're the same.

There are some key similarities between the two, such as image quality, but their differences should not be overlooked.DP and HDMI cables are used for different purposes, have different connectors, and are not used interchangeably.

DP is primarily used for video transmission on PCs, laptops and tablets. Unlike HDMI, it is hardly used in consumer electronics. Another key difference is that DP is a free subscription to the manufacturer, whereas HDMI must be licensed by the manufacturer.

There are a couple of additional features that make it easier to differentiate between the two.DP offers the ability to drive multiple displays using a single cable, making it useful in professional applications. In contrast, HDMI can only drive one display per cable. However, HDMI can support ARC (Audio Return Channel), which allows sound to be sent from the display to the source device.DP does not have this feature.
